Cliff's Drum Page

I have been playing drums for over 25 years (which probably explains the Tinnitus!), and my current set-up is illustrated below. My early influences were Ian Paice (Deep Purple) and Jon Bonham (Led Zeppelin), though my musical tastes have shifted towards the more 'progressive' over the years, and I currently rate Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Nick D'Virgilio (Spock's Beard), and Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) as the greatest exponents of the art.

I have my old school friend Rob Lewis to thank for re-igniting my interest in this all-consuming hobby, as it was he who suggested I record some drum parts for some music that he was writing. This required the replacing of my aging Hoshino/Premier 5-piece; but I kind-of got carried away and eventually assembled the monster beneath!

Between the Autumn of 2003 and the Autumn of 2004, we exchanged Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition session data in the post (Broadband is coming to Kingsclere in 2005!), and released the compilation of 11 tracks (suitably entitled 'Autumn Tracks') for Xmas 2005.

In addition to my collaborations with Rob, I have an annual reunion of my old band, Gypsy, where we play some old songs, jam some new ones, and generally reminisce about our misspent youth!
